Murder in Minnesota

The crisis in America is grave. Around the world, people are probably aware of the tragedy in the U.S. when ICE agent, Jonathan Ross, shot and killed Renee Good, an innocent mother of three, for no good reason. President Trump and his allies immediately blamed Renee for her own death, and have told terrible lies about her.
Especially, Trump claims she ran over Agent Ross, so that he shot her in self-defense. That is not true. Many people at the scene were taking videos of the events. If you watch the available videos patiently you can clearly see the key sequence of events. I recommend watching the New York Times’ analysis of the videos. But for now, here is my account of the events, based on the videos I have seen.
Renee had parked her red SUV in mid street, presumably to obstruct ICE. But we clearly see her put her left arm out her open car window and give a friendly wave at several cars which go in front of her. A masked ICE agent approaches her window and tells her to “get the “fuck” out of the car. She says calmly, “I’m not mad at you.” He pulls on her door handle but it does not open.
Then we can see an unmasked agent, whom we now know is Johnathan Ross, walk around her car on the right side, taking a video with his phone. Renee’s wife, Rebecca, speaks to him, saying they are citizens and veterans. She urges him to “go get some lunch.”
Renee had turned her wheels to the left and back up a few feet, then turn her wheel back to the right, apparently preparing to drive away.
We can see from Ross’s own video and others that he walks in front of the car, taking a video of her, face-on, through the windshield. From other videos we see him standing in front of her left headlight. Renee has turned her wheel to the right to avoid him and begins to inch forward. As she moves forward his video suddenly points at the sky. Someone (Ross?) shouts “Whoa, whoa, whoa.” This is the point at which Trump claims she ran over him. She did not.
Other videos show Ross stepping around the left side of her car, where he is clearly not in danger, with his left hand leaning on her hood and his feet far from the car. As she slowly moves forward, he shoots her once through the windshield, and then two times in the face straight through her open driver’s window. In one video we can hear agent Ross say, “Fuckin bitch.”
After he shoots her, her car accelerates and crashes. He walks over and looks in her window, offering her no aid. He and other agents can be seen telling bystanders not to approach or help her, including one who says he is a doctor. Then we can see Ross’s face clearly as he walks away, pointing his left finger into the air and circling it, apparently giving a “let’s go” signal. He gets into a car with other ICE agents, and they leave, having prevented anyone from helping Renee.
Clearly, Renee Good did not run over Ross. It was AFTER Trump claims she ran over Ross that he stands by her car and shoots her, then walks around with his face clearly showing.
As Agent Ross walked from looking in Renee’s car to where he leaves, a woman (perhaps her wife) screams at him. “What did you do? You fucking shot her. Have you no conscience? Shame, shame, shame.” He ignored her.
President Trump has blocked any federal investigation into the crime. And it is clear that even if Ross were convicted in a federal court, Trump would pardon him. Agent Ross can only come to justice in a Minnesota state court, where Trump cannot pardon him. So, Trump is blocking the state’s investigation, too.
Adding insult to injury, Trump ordered an investigation of Renee Good’s widow, Rebecca Good. But eleven prosecutors have resigned in protest.
Will agent Ross ever face justice for this brutal murder? Not if Trump can prevent it. Last year, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that a U.S. President (i.e. Trump) cannot be prosecuted for crimes committed as President. Trump wants his ICE and border agents to know they are immune from prosecution, too, even for murder in front of a cloud of witnesses.
Trump has stated publicly to New York Times reporters, that he is not constrained by international law, but only by his own ‘morality and mind”. Given these events, and trump’s attack on Venezuela, People in Greenland should be very afraid of his brutality.
