Robert Burrell
Composing Music for Ecological Civilizations
We in the world of process theology and philosophy believe that the world's best hope is to create and sustain local communities that are creative, compassionate, participatory, diverse, inclusive, humane to animals, and good for the earth -- with no one left behind. These are the building blocks of ecological civilizations. We also believe that music and music composition can play an extremely important role in inspiring such communities. This includes all kinds of music, including music created with the larger community of life as co-creators in a spirit of collaborative creativity. Along with the many kinds of music he has created over the years, the process philosopher/theologian Robert Burrell invites us into this kind of music. We call it musical collaboration with the sounds of nature or, for short, eco-music. Enjoy.
