Christianity in the United States has little to do with Jesus, even as it claims his name. Instead it wraps Jesus in the mantle of greed and American exceptionalism, and calls it "Christianity." John Cobb offers a critique. If you are a disciple of Jesus, he says, your highest goal is loving God and neighbor, not accumulating unneeded wealth and flaunting it. His recent book, Confessions (Process Century Press, 2023) is an appeal for American Christians to wake up and follow Jesus, not fame and fortune.
