Greg Gibson and Wayne Lo
Talking with the Man who Killed my Son
Everyone has a different way of dealing with tragedy, especially when a loved one is murdered. There dwells within each heart a lure toward healing and wholeness, but it is ever-adaptive to each person and each situation. It is in the victims of the murder, in their families, and also in the murderer - adjusted to each person's life. For Wayne Lo, the lure is to understand what he has done, ask for forgiveness, and understand why it might be rejected. For Greg Gibson, the father of the victim, the lure is to accept Wayne's apology. There is no need to say that everyone is called as Greg is called. But the story is worth hearing, reminding us that healing is possible on many fronts and in many ways. For Open Horizons thinkers, God is in the healing, however it comes, and also in the grief, the lamentation, however expressed. God is a fellow sufferer who understands. (Jay McDaniel)
