It's how we speak,
not just what we say

"Can we speak to one another with words and tones and content that make it possible for others to receive what we want to say? Or is our language going to be so caustic, crude, brutal, and harsh that they just shut down or put up a shell in order to fight back. We have a choice in how we communicate. It's not only what we say but how we say it. We can speak to one other in ways that invite the other in, to a dialogue back and forth; rather than setting them on edge and making them think that what's to follow is a disaster they need to defend themselves against. How we speak is important, not just what we say."
