The Universal Zulu Nation for 40 years was just a International Hip Hop World Movement but knowing the power that it had in being a World Nation within other Nations throughout the Earth with many Ideology within the Universal Zulu Nation Afrika Bambaataa has now added the nation as a Nation within many Nations on Earth with Infinity Lessons, Laws and a Constitution of their own as well as Their Banner, Their Flag and their Great Seal. Process Nation?

Jon Gill, Process, and Hip Hop

Is Process Philosophy an Aesthetic Religion?  
 
Jon Gill uses the idea of ​aesthetic religion to name the kind of “religion” that is at work in hip-hop culture and many other music communities.  He is influenced by a book by Ian Fowles, a professional guitarist and religious studies scholar, called Sound Salvation: Rock and Roll as Religion (2011).  I agree with Jon Gill and Ian Fowles.  I, too, propose that popular music, hip hop much included, function as a religion see Popular Music as Religion.

An aesthetic religion may or may not include a belief in God or a supreme Source. But it does offer its faithful (1) a sense of community and identity, (2) some shared ideas about what the world is like and what it can become, (3) satisfying rituals, some collectively enjoyed, (3) some written or oral texts, (4) iconography and sacred sounds, (5) opportunities for vivid experiences that transform consciousness, (6) priests who border on functioning as deities. and (7) what Jon Gill calls a “roadmap for living.”  
 
It seems to me that, for some people, process philosophy is also an aesthetic religion of sorts, with many if not all of these seven elements.  Arguably some of its key thinkers (John Cobb, for example) function as priests borderining on deities: an idea that troubles me and John Cobb.  When it comes to process philosophy, let there be, in the words of Protestant Christianity, a priesthood of all believers; and, if there must be divinities, let there be many of them.

Of course, many people will insist that process philosophy is not at all an aesthetic religion; it is only a philosophy. They will see it as somehow contained in the written texts of Bergson, Whitehead, Hartshorne, Deleuze, and Keller.  It is an academic tradition, pure and simple: indeed a logocentric (written word) centered tradition at that.  But today many are thinking of process philosophy as more than a philosophy defined by written texts.  It is, they say, a movement. 

I am in this camp.  That's why I am so involved with the Cobb Institute: A Community for Process and Practice.  Jon Gill is as well.   If it is a movement, what “roadmap for living” does process philosophy entail and promote?  What practices?  I've given a little thought see Practicing Process Thought: Ten Guidelines.  See also some of the core beliefs and practices below.  These are, I believe, at the heart of the Process Nation.  But the question left for rich discussion is: How might this worldview and roadmap be enriched, widened, and deepened, by hip hop?
