Religion in the Making: Q&A with Russell Duvernoy
"This video is a recording of a question and answer session on Alfred North Whitehead and his work Religion in the Making with Professor Russell Duvernoy.
Russell is Assistant Professor of Philosophy at King’s University College at Western University of Ontario whose work draws on continental philosophy and process philosophies to engage with climate crisis and ecological conversion. He is the author of Affect and Attention after Deleuze and Whitehead: Ecological Attunement recently published with Edinburgh University Press. More information about his work can be found on his academia.edu page: https://kings-uwo.academia.edu/Russel...
In this Q&A Russell provides a very helpful outline of Whitehead’s work and helps contextualize Religion in the Making, both within Whitehead’s larger body of writings and within its historical period. Topics addressed in this Q&A include:
Whitehead’s understanding of Buddhism and the affinity between Process Philosophy and Buddhism
The existential impact and importance of Whitehead’s metaphysics
The relationship between creativity, God, and the eternal objects in Religion in the Making and Whitehead’s other works
How Whitehead’s own thought can be used to address some of the shortcomings of his privileged and naive 20th century perspective
And many others. Enjoy the recording! Professor Duvernoy's recent book Affect and Attention after Deleuze and Whitehead: Ecological Attunement: https://edinburghuniversitypress.com/...}
